7 Days to Better Bowling record with sleeve, 1961 33 1/3 Record produced by: Audio Dynamics Corp., Sports Series EDDIE MAYS AND BOBBY GRAYSON, INC. 4412 S. W. CORBETT, PORTLAND 1, OREGON o CA 6-7051 COPYRIGHT, 1961, AUDIO-DYNAMICS CORPORATION ADC-SS-61-2-RH RELAXATION This record WILL NOT eliminate the need for basic instruction on how to bowl. IT WILL condition you to capitalize upon your instruction by removing tension, and allow you to 6owl in a relaxed manner. CONFIDENCE This record WILL NOT eliminate "flukes" that undermine confidence, causing you to "blow" subsequent frames. IT WILL condition you to maintain confidence in the face of "flukes" which bowlers encounter. CONCENTRATION This record WILL NOT eliminate distractions that occur during play. IT WILL condition you to concentrate so effectively upon your shot that you are oblivious to what would otherwise be distractions. COORDINATION This record WILL NOT eliminate the need for proper timing. IT WILL condition you to "groove" your delivery without conscious effort so that all shots are consistently accurate. BOWLING like virtually every sport, has two principal phases. One is the mechanical phase which involves the basic knowledge and skill required to execute the various moves correctly and at precisely the right time. For a bowler with normal physical ability, all that is needed is proper instruction, equipment and practice to develop satisfactory mechanical performance. It is assumed that the listener has already fulfilled these basic requirements. If not, we suggest the guidance of a properly qualified instructor before using this recording seriously. The second part of bowling consists of the "mental side" of the game. Here we are concerned with acquiring the proper mental attitude, overcoming distractions, concentration upon the immediate target, and the coordination of all the mechanical or functional elements of the game. For one who aspires to better-than-average performance, it is necessary that these things become automatic. This can be done only after learning the fundamentals and long hours of practice which help to "groove the delivery", or through a program of conditioning such as this recording provides. Thus the degree to which you master the "mental side" will determine whether your score is higher or lower than bowlers of equal mechanical ability. This record, "7 Days to Better Bowling", is designed solely to help you master the "mental side" of the game. It is of necessity a "do-it-yourself course", for no one, not even the finest instructor, can do this for you. The record will not teach you anything about the mechanics of the game. It is assumed you already know the proper approach, delivery and follow-through. If not, seek immediate qualified advice on these matters. THIS IS NOT A COURSE OF INSTRUCTION, and is unlike any recording you have ever heard. This record will capitalize upon the instruction you have already received by showing you how automatically to bowl a relaxed, confident, concentrated and well coordinated game. Since tension is the enemy of coordination, the first portion of the recording is devoted to teaching you the art of controlled relaxation. The last part contains formulae designed to cause you automatically to deliver a consistently accurate ball at will within the limits of your individual potential. INSTRUCTIONS 1.Listen to the record in solitude or free from distraction. 2.Listen to the record while in a relaxed, comfortable position. 3.This recording has been specifically designed to adapt to the schedule of the busy executive or career woman. Side No. 1 may be listened to at any time on any conventional 33-1/3 R.P.M. phonograph. Side No. 2 has been developed to be used on any 33-1/3 R.P.M. automatic player, and when used with a clock radio or timer, will accommodate those who do not have time for daytime listening. Listen for one hour at bedtime. Make certain your record player is set to repeat. 4.For maximum immediate results it is recommended that either side be listened to every day for seven consecutive days. 5.If you do not bowl at least once a week, you should re-play the record prior to your next game. 6.Although you will notice marked improvement in your game after only seven days of listening, maximum benefit will be obtained by re-playing at frequent intervals to maintain consistent performance. 7.Should you be fortunate enough to relax to the point of drowsiness or sleep, you will receive even more rapid benefit from this recording than those who merely relax, since the instruction is directed primarily to your sub-conscious mind. However, in order to familiarize yourself with the formulae and their applications, you should listen to the record at least once when you are completely aware of what is being said.
