Dancing in the street, June 30, 1958 Alaskans danced in the streets until midnight when the U.S. Senate passed the Alaska Statehood Bill. The center of the Ketchikan festivities was the intersection of Front and Mission Streets. June 30, 1958 the U.S. Senate passed the Alaska Statehood bill by a vote of 64-20 and sent it to President Dwight Eisenhower.
