Aerial view of the Heath Addition, August 5, 1953 The Wingren Court apartment building is under construction at center. Carlanna is still a dream. The large white building to the left, over the water, housed the marine ways of Northern Machine Works. Much of the shallow lighter area of the Narrows would later be filled in, providing buidling sites for the Plaza Mall, Sea Level Condominiums, Super 8 Motel, etc. |

Donated to the Museum by the Photographer In 2003 The Silver Basin and Get Fit Stay Fit Gym occupied the former location of Northern Machine Works. In 2021 Tongass Marine Store takes the place of The Silver Basin and the unoccupied nearby 2531 Tongass was a gym. |
