Ketchikan Air service hangers as seen from the water. Ketchikan Air Service ran charter plane service to logging camps, fishing lakes and almost any place you might want to go by plane. Don Dawson Notes: Ketchikan waterfront with original Ketchikan Air Service Hangars (Note larger hangar was that originally built in 1930 for Ketchikan seaport at North Tongass and Shoreline Drives used by Pioneer Airways and Ketchikan Airways before Herb Munter bought it and had it put onto log floats for Aircraft Charter Service, Inc. Note from old finding aid [2021 note - building has been torn down - was still around at the time of this note]: "A view of the beginning of lower Water Street. Most of the buildings on Water Street in this photograph no longer exist - with the exception of Paul Hansen's which is still in use as a store on the corner. Built in 1927 the building still retains its original appearance. The buildings on the right of Nob Hill are still standing." |
