Filipino Community Hall New Year Celebration, December 31, 1953 Note calendar on wall Ketchikan Daily News photo caption, 1/4/1954 (photo 2003.2.63.859) "Three-fold Celebration Held by Filipino Community Rizal day, New Year's Eve, and installation of officers were combined in a big celebration by the local Filipino community Thursday evening. The newly installed officers are shown above with Mayor and Mrs. George H. Beck (center), honored guests for the festivities." Ketchikan Daily News article, 1/4/1954 "Filipinos Celebrate Three Events Ketchikan's Filipino community celebrated three events Thursday night when it observed annual Rizal day, installation of newly-elected officers and New Year's with a dinner, program and dancing. Felix Zamora is the president of the Filipino community, being reelected to that position. Other officers are F. D. Roxas, vice president; Mrs. Lillian Zamora, secretary, and Ricardo Ricardo, treasurer. Trustees include Manuel Macaguiwa, Vincent Tongson, Frank Zamora, Hermy Valdez and Mrs. J. Dool. Johnny Vinegas is the chief sergeant-at-arms, assisted by Diasado Barros and Leon Sabanal. Mayor George H. Beck and a number of townspeople were guests."
