Description |
Northern Bus Company bus on Dock Street, November 1, 1951 Note: Advertising signs on the side and front of the bus. Bus service between downtown and Ward Cove started when Eugene Wacker began operating the Wacker Stage in the late 1920s. The White Cab and Bus Company got into the business in the 1930s. Partners in the venture came and went, but by 1940 Ken Eichner and Dewey Barber were the principal owners, and they operated as the Northern Bus Company. Eichner eventually became the sole owner and, in 1959, he sold out to Lee Lewis, who re-named the company North Star Transit. |
