Xoots yakw (Brown Bear canoe), a superb example of the largest class of Northern canoe, floats in front of Kadashan's house in Wrangell's inner harbor. 1898. Poles oars and paddles are all in use as photographer A.C. Pillsbury clicks his shutter. The boat on the beach at left is a partially-decked double-ended "Columbia River" type.
