Notes from the donor: The photographer was the donor's grandfather. He spent around two years in Craig. She believes he managed a store on or near the dock for Robert Fleming. She thought there might be some archival materials in Seattle as the Flemings had a marine insurance business there. The photographer, Mr. Sillence emigrated from England to Canada in 1908 and worked after the first world war in Portland, Oregon, then Seattle, the Craig. Finaly he and his wife settled on Vancouver Island, B.C. around 1923 where they lived for many years and he worked as a photographer. |
