Marconi Wireless Station in the Heath Addition, Ketchikan, Alaska Century - 20 Ketchikan Daily News 12/2/1968 (image caption) "ALASKA COMMUNICATIONS System lost two of its three towers in the Thanksgiving Day wind storm. The towers were 300-feet high. Here is a picture of the original ACS installation at Ketchikan in 1912. This is the same location where the towers stood until Thursday, although in fewer number than were necessary in 1912. The picture is from the collection of Mrs. Max MacGillvrary, whose father, George Chesney, wired the original towers in 1912." |
