Description |
Double-sided wood and metal folding ruler. Side strips and ends are capped with metal (brass?), now mostly covered in green corrosion. There are two types of hinges used, one for the center joint that acts like a pair of scissors and another used to fold the end section inward over the middle section. Originally ruler was 36" long, but one arm of ruler has broken off. The ruler is missing numbers 1-9 on one side and 27-36 on the other side. It's possible this section was also connected with a hinge. Similar to a Stanley #62 folding ruler. |
Provenance |
Found in a large tool chest with various other shipwright tools. The collection belonged to Grace Moore's husband (unknown name?). It is believed he was a shipwright in the early part of the 20th Century. |
