Description |
Wood and metal butt gauge, used for marking. The stock (or center piece) is made of a hard wood with a metal inlayed fish on one side and diamond-like shape on the other side. A wing nut secures two adjustable wooden stems that pierce the middle of the stock. |
Provenance |
Found in a large tool chest with various other shipwright tools. The collection belonged to Grace Moore's husband (unknown name?). It is believed he was a shipwright in the early part of the 20th Century. |
