Lever action Marlin .38-W repeating rifle with a solid top, closed in breach, and side ejection feature. The gun has a wooden stock with a metal but plate, and a post type sight. The rifle has an octagon barrel that is marked .38 - W just behind the adjustable rear sight, and serial number 59536 on the bottom of the breach just forward of the lever action. Just forward of the rear sight the text "MARLIN, FIRE - ARMS CO., NEW HAVEN, CY. U.S.A." PAT'D OCT. 11, 1887, APRIL 2 1889 A.G." Just forward of the hammer, the breach is marked "Marlin Safety" |
