Folding balance, circa 1900 This small folding scale is made of brass, and consists of a balance arm on a pivot which has two pans suspended from the ends by three pieces of small chain. The pivot has a brass ring for holding the balance. The balance arm has a nail like point above the arm that indicates when the items being weighed are equal. A: Folding balance B-E: Weights |
