Description |
"HE-PAPOOSE" Painting of the boat He-papoose on the Metlakatla cannery dock. Father Andrew William Vachon S. J., 1961 |
Provenance |
Note: this painting was given to Sentaor Bartlett by Vachon "so he's have Alaskan scenes in his office in Washinton, D.C. The painting was made from the original sketch (reproduced in "Fish Without Chips") drawn on the cannery dock at Metlakatla. It was painted at Marymount, Spanaway, Washington. What attracted me to the seince skiff was the unusual name on it." Note: Presented to Ketchikan Mayor Oral Freeman by Mrs. Bartlett (via Joseph P. Adam) on T.V. October 3, 1969 |
